The idea for Carey Pet & Home Care was formed when Cris Carey realized working in an office doing the same thing day after day was just not for her. So, she decided to take her 20 years of business operations experience and her knowledge and love of animals to start her own pet sitting company. AND, in January 2005 Carey Pet & Home Care was born.
Over the last seven years, Cris has nurtured her business to its current status as one of the leading pet care providers in the Oklahoma City Metro area. As a member of National Professional Pet Sitters, Carey Pet & Home Care and their team of pet sitters have the qualifications and experience to take care of your extended family and look forward to being given the opportunity to meet all your pet sitting needs.
Carey Pet & Home Care is proud to support and provide pet sitting services to local area rescues. They also participate in the Bella Foundation’s Dog Walk in the Park, Festival of the Pet and are co-sponsors of one of Oklahoma City’s premier pet events, “Rescue Day and Dog Wash.”

CRIS CAREY, OWNER
Cris’ passion for animals started early in life. Growing up on a farm in Indiana, she learned to raise and care for all types of animals including family pets and livestock.. She also learned the countless responsibilities that go along with being an animal owner. Cris has volunteered at local dog and cat organizations fostering and transporting adoptable pets. Throughout her life, she has been the person friends and family call upon when they need help with their pets while they are away from home. One of her friends actually nicknamed her their pet’s “Nanny”.
JOYCE W. – MOORE, SOUTH/SE OKLAHOMA CITY

Joyce enjoys every pet she cares for as each one has a unique personality and holds a special place in her heart. Joyce decided to be a pet sitter after retiring from working for years in the administrative field. She was looking for something different and most of all, fun. Joyce realizes how important it is our client’s feel their homes and pet will be secure when they are away.
PAMELA R. – CENTRAL OKC, NORTH/NW OKC, SOUTH EDMOND
Pamela is such an animal lover that her husband says they are her “addiction”. About two years ago they lived on an acreage that had wild mustangs, corgis and their puppies, rabbits and cats. They have since moved into town and have two dogs and three cats. Pamela is actively involved at the Central Oklahoma Humane Society Adoption Center as a volunteer, at outreaches, and is in training to Trap-Neuter-Release cats in feral cat colonies. She occasionally fosters cats and dogs that are waiting for a “forever” home. Pamela is very passionate about the humane treatment of all animals and frequently speaks on their behalf. As your sitter, Pamela will lavish plenty of love and care on your pets.
PAM M. – SE OKC, DEL CITY, MIDWEST CITY, CHOCTAW
Pam has been caring for pets since she was a child. Her family always had a multitude of pets – dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, birds, rabbits, turtles, and fish. Pam loves playing with her dogs and taking them swimming at the lake. Pam always watches her children’s pets when they go out of town. Pam’s most interesting experience as a pet sitter was when a tree frog was left in her care. After picking up some live crickets for the frog’s evening meal, the container fell over in her car and crickets were jumping everywhere! Pam had to leave her car doors open overnight to ensure all the “escapees” found their way out. Of course, she did go get more crickets for the frog. Pam says she propably loves animals more than people (wink!), and since retiring she now has more time to devote to her own pets, as well as, the time to care for others. Pam’s sitting clients should feel secure knowing she will care for their pets and home just as she would her own.
SHAWNA B. – YUKON, MUSTANG, TUTTLE, NEWCASTLE, SW OKLAHOMA CITY
Shawna grew up in a “dog family”. Her mom owned an all-breed dog grooming business and also bred toy poodles. Shawna is still very involved with dogs as a foster for Because of You Chihuahua Rescue and as a volunteer for Therapy Dogs International at Children’s and Deaconess hospitals with Jake, her certified therapy dog. She loves helping pets and pet sitting is another way she feels she can bring more peace and happiness to the lives of animals and their owners. Shawna understands the need for clients to feel that the safety and comfort of their four-legged family members are in the hands of someone who is experienced and well-qualified. Animals in her care will always receive love, attention and the best care.
SUSAN B. – NORTH/WEST EDMOND
Susan has a natural gift for animals. She says, “I like taking care of animals…big ones, little ones, and medium sized ones. I own five cats and 3 dogs and animals always have been and always will be a part of my life. They are my kids! Sitting for other people seems like a natural thing for me to do. I’m good with animals and since I’m retired, I can set my schedule to accommodate the needs of the clients.” While working at the VA Susan was instrumental in getting therapy dog visits approved at the OKC VA Medical Center. She also assisted in getting approval for family members to bring the veteran’s personal dog for visitation at the VA. Susan has owned cats, dogs, rabbits, a horse and pony, horned toad, and a couple of ferrets. Knowing how seriously she takes her responsibilities, Susan’s clients will be comfortable leaving their pets and home in Susan’s care.
ELAINE B. – MID-DAY SITTER
Elaine is a true animal lover. She has had dogs all her life and has a long history in pet care. Her experience includes taking care of cats, dogs, fish, iguanas, horses and rabbits. In addition to her dogs, Elaine has owned crowned and regular male betas, and as a teenager owned and showed two miniature rex rabbits. She likes pet sitting because it allows her to be around all different kinds of animals. Clients will enjoy leaving their pets and their home in the care of such an experienced, responsible, dependable, and kindhearted sitter.
TAMMY B. – NORMAN
Tammy considers her pets to be an important part of her family. Her love of pets began with turtles and fish when she was a little girl. She remembers growing up surrounded by animals — cats, birds, horses, dogs and chickens — on her family’s farm. Tammy is currently the proud owner of three cats. Her “boys” include two 17-year-old tuxedo cats and one six-year-old “Buddha belly” cat. She also has three “grand pugs” two of which are rescues from Lost Paws.
A native of Texas, Tammy has volunteered at the Dallas SPCA and Operations Kindness. She also volunteered at her vet’s office and at a local pet sitting business. Tammy has recently relocated to Oklahoma to be closer to her family and is looking forward to being involved in the Oklahoma City pet community. Having traveled for business, she understands the feelings of moms and dads that are away and want to make sure their four-legged children are well cared for. She looks forward to serving our Norman area clients with love and kindness.
