Registration Visits
Prior to services being scheduled, all first time clients will have an in-home New Client Registration Visit to introduce us to your pets and to discuss the individual needs of both your pet and your home. The visit typically lasts about one hour. At that time we will go over the Service Agreement, Veterinary Treatment/Authorization Form, New Client Information Packet, and verify the information we have asked you to enter into our online pet sitting software. In addition, we will review the charges for our services, payment policies, and answer any questions you may have to ensure we both understand our responsibilities. Finally, we will collect two sets of keys to your home and review any security measures (i.e., alarms, codes, etc.) that you have installed. This is a one-time visit for new clients.
Mini-Registration Visits are scheduled with all existing clients whenever there is a change of address.
Scheduling
Our objective is to give your pets all the time and attention they deserve, according to a schedule that’s convenient for you. Carey Pet & Home care schedules visits on a first-come-first-served basis. We strongly encourage you to make your reservations early for holiday appointments, especially Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s. We begin planning holiday schedules about two months in advance.
Clients may make reservations by logging into their online account. An email confirmation is generated once the office has approved the request. Please DO NOT leave town without an email confirmation of your service request and payment.
We require a minimum 72 hours notice prior to first requested visit for all pet sitting reservations. If you request our services with less notice, we may not be able to accept your reservation. If we are able to accommodate you, a $12 last minute request fee will be charged.
Key Security
Carey Pet & Home Care operates a special Key Security Program. We require two (2) sets of keys to a client’s home – one for the pet/home care provider and one for the office to serve as a back-up key. Garage door openers and/or codes are welcome, but may not be used in lieu of keys.
We will not pick up or leave keys “under the mat” or the like, nor will we leave the keys in the house on the last day of service. We recommend you let Carey Pet & Home Care retain your keys for future service. Many clients enjoy the comfort of knowing if an emergency (i.e., locked out, unexpected home repairs, etc.) arises, we still have a key and will be more than happy to help you out in a pinch.
In the event of a key or lock malfunction, and a locksmith is needed to gain entry, the client is expected to accept responsibility for all costs incurred.
Daily Log
Your pet sitter will leave you a short description of how each visit went and services performed.
Payment
All payments are due one week before the first day of service. All clients are required to have a credit card or debit card on file with the CP&HC office. We accept Master Card, Visa, and Discover. Payments will be charged one week prior to the first day of service. No services will be performed if payment has not been made. If you have not received email confirmation that payment has been made, please do not leave town without contacting the office.
(See Policies for complete payment policies information.)
Safety
For the safety of our Pet Sitters, CP&HC will not provide pet sitting services if client has family or guests staying in home. CP&HC also declines to share responsibility for pet care with family, neighbors, friends and others. In the event a Pet Sitter arrives and finds an unexpected or unauthorized person in your home, Pet Sitter will notify the authorities.
(For complete information, see Policies.)
Liability
When you entrust your pet’s care to us, we take that commitment seriously. First and foremost, we hold ourselves responsible for your pet’s safety when you leave them in our care. This means we look after your pets as we would our own, only following your established routines. However, due to the extreme unpredictability of animals, we cannot accept responsibility for any damage to pets or property caused by your pet(s) or other means outside our control. Clients are expected to take adequate precautions to ensure the safety of pet(s) and property in their absence. This includes but is not limited to providing gates, crates, medications, food, and any special instructions that your pet sitter may need in caring for your pet(s) and home. (For complete information, see Policies.)
