Registration Visits

Prior to services being scheduled, all first time clients will have an in-home New Client Registration Visit to introduce us to your pets and to discuss the individual needs of both your pet and your home. The visit typically lasts about one hour. During that time Cris Carey, owner of Carey Pet & Home Care, will go over the Service Agreement, Veterinary Treatment/Authorization Form, the New Client Information Packet, and verify the information you have been asked to enter into our online pet sitting software. In addition, she will review pricing for requested services, payment policies, and answer any questions you may have to ensure we both parties understand their responsibilities. As the paperwork is being completed, one of our sitters will be getting acquainted with your pet(s) and starting to form the bond that is essential in the sitter/pet relationship.

Finally, we will collect two sets of keys to your home and review any security measures that you have installed (i.e., garage codes, alarm codes, etc.), and have you give us a tour of your home pointing out the pet food cabinet, area where pets are fed, location of alarm system, cleaning supplies, etc. This is a one-time visit for new clients.

Mini-Registration Visits

Mini-Registration Visits are typically conducted whenever an existing client has moved. During this visit, we have you familiarize us with the layout of your new home, location of food, feeding area, cleaning supplies, alarm system, crates, etc. We will also review/update all paperwork and collect two sets of keys.

Our objective is to give your pets all the time and attention they deserve, according to a schedule that's convenient for you. Carey Pet & Home care schedules visits on a first-come-first-served basis. We strongly encourage you to make your reservations early for holiday appointments, especially Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's. We begin planning holiday schedules about two months in advance.

Clients may make reservations by logging into their online account. An email confirmation is generated once the office has approved the request. Please DO NOT leave town without an email confirmation of your service request and payment.

We require new clients provide us with a minimum 72 hours notice prior to first requested visit for all pet sitting reservations. If you request our services with less notice, we may not be able to accept your reservation. If we are able to accommodate you, a last minute service request fee will be charged.

Key Security

Carey Pet & Home Care operates a special Key Security Program. We require two (2) sets of keys to a client's home - one for the pet/home care provider and one for the office to serve as a back-up key. Garage door openers and/or codes are welcome, but may not be used in lieu of keys.

We will not pick up or leave keys "under the mat" or the like, nor will we leave the keys in the house on the last day of service. We recommend you let Carey Pet & Home Care retain your keys for future service. Many clients enjoy the comfort of knowing if an emergency (i.e., locked out, unexpected home repairs, etc.) arises, we still have a key and will be more than happy to help you out in a pinch.

In the event of a key or lock malfunction, and a locksmith is needed to gain entry, the client is expected to accept responsibility for all costs incurred.

Online Notes

Your pet sitter will leave you a short description of how each visit went and services performed. Online notes are available after every scheduled visit. Clients may view online notes by logging in to their Carey Pet & Home Care account.

When you entrust your pet's care to us, we take that commitment seriously. First and foremost, we hold ourselves responsible for your pet's safety when you leave them in our care. This means we look after your pets as we would our own, only following your established routines. However, due to the extreme unpredictability of animals, we cannot accept responsibility for any damage to pets or property caused by your pet(s) or other means outside our control. Clients are expected to take adequate precautions to ensure the safety of pet(s) and property in their absence. This includes but is not limited to providing gates, crates, medications, food, and any special instructions that your pet sitter may need in caring for your pet(s) and home.
